Neap Tide | Spring Tide

Alrighty then. I joined a couple of Metalocalypse fan communities, and finally worked up the courage to actually post something. Never mind that I'm about twice as old as most of the people in them... ;p A post in one of them actually inspired a little Metalocalypse/Pokemon crossover fan art (weird as that may be) of Charles and Nathan, because it made me crack up. I'm just transferring the whole post here, rather than writing up something new. Because I'm brain-dead from trying to write Council briefings, catching up on the dishes, and trying to come with three Halloween costumes on a shoestring. Also damned Meg Whitman (Nut-meg) election commercials making my head explode every time I can't avoid them...

Hi people! I admit I looked up Metalocalypse fanfic on a whim in July, not even considering slash, and stumbled across this community. I've been lurking here since, and devoured everything here. I've been kind of imtimidated by just how good all of it is - you guys are amazing and I am shocked at how addictive it is! Unfortunately, I'm no good at fiction (with one exception in another fandom - I have no idea if that will ever happen again), and while I doodle, I'm not very successful with people. I have to turn them into critters of some kind. Fish, usually. And nothing halfway intelligent to discuss was occuring to me, so being a shy person -and low on Powdermilk Biscuits- I lurked. And lurked.

However,  this silly post/quizzy thing about the guys as Pokemon in capslokdethklok (where I also lurked) kept sticking itself back in my head because it made me crack up, but it didn't come with pictures.  So I tried making some.  And I'm not even a fan of the anime - my son helped me find some mouse-types as examples.  I haven't drawn anything in forever so these are probably not all that great...If you're over there, you've probably already seen 'em so you can skip this - although one of the scans is better now.

Title: Blooming is irritating...
Artist(s): senoritafish
Character: Grass Mouse Pokemon Nathan
Rating: G
Warning(s): Some people may have Pokemon allergies
Disclaimer: I own neither Metalocalypse nor Pokemon. I think both are violating laws of physics anyway.
Artist Notes: Results said: "Nathan is a psychic, grass mouse Pokemon that rarely shows itself in public.  Good fortune comes to those who see Nathan. (He) will bravely face an opponent even larger than himself (2'5", 33 lbs.)"

I think he just might be in a bad mood from being hung over. Also, it's that awful season when grass Pokemon bloom. Or something. He tries to avoid everyone when it happens. Totally not metal. But cute.

(I may try coloring these later; but work and trying to come up with at least three Halloween costumes are sucking me dry...)

Title: Dragon CFO
Artist(s): senoritafish
Pairing(s)/Character(s): Dragon Pokemon Charles
Rating: G
Warning(s): If you booked. a gig. in Syria. without telling him. - you probably don't have any eyebrows right now and possibly second degree burns on your ears...
Disclaimer: I own neither Metalocalypse nor Pokemon. I don't have room for all those little red & white spheres.
Artist Notes: Results said: "(Charles) is a normal dragon Pokemon.  (He) is loyal to his trainer... will explode with very little stimulus so he's very popular as a pet. (5'6" - 94 lbs)"

Eh, not really a Pokemon dragon, just one of my own.  Normal in that he's just your basic ninja/accountant/lawyer/manager dragon. You can bet Charles will quite literally light a fire under your little Pokemon butt to get it in the studio and meeting deadlines. Not doing so will cause the aformentioned exploding.

Dragon Charles

I should also disclose that Charles' posture was sort of inspired by a Fish & Game Warden dog I met earlier in the day; a huge friendly German Shepard named Leo, who gallumphed at me as I came in the office door, almost licked me on the nose, and then sat like this so I could scratch his chest. He was taking a break from sniffing for poachers and invasive species, I guess. I think those tail appendages are because we'd just recently watched How to Train Your Dragon.

Well, I did say I couldn't draw people...

Not in the Metalocalypse fandom but those are so cute!

Ah, but at least you're in the other one. ;)

You know, I'm a little surprised I'm in it myself. I actually didn't care for it when it first came on, but it's really grown on me. Five spoiled ridiculously famous guys and their long-suffering manager who has to ride herd on them is not something that would normally appeal to me, but it's one of those things that's just stupidly funny.

Yes, I am a long-standing Pokemon fan, though I was mostly active on a certain message board. So I know what it's like to feel like the oldest one in the fandom. (Though the board had one person older than me!)
